Wisdom Healing Qigong: Healing Your Body With The Creative Energy Inside With Master Mingtong Gu
I have a very special guest for you. Master Mingtong Gu is the man who brought a profound 5,000-year-old form of Chinese healing to the West in the form of Wisdom Healing Qigong. He’s bringing it forward as a vital practice in the time of COVID-19. I’m excited about this gentleman and what he is offering in contributing to the world. Without further ado, welcome Mr. Master Mingtong Gu to the show.
I’m happy to be with you and connecting with you and all the audience in this very unusual, special time together discovering so much gift waiting for us to cultivate and experience into our lives. Thank you for this opportunity.
It’s such a pleasure to have you on the show. I was doing some research on you and realize that you created Qigong and you are a wisdom healer. I would like to know more about that. What inspired you to become a Wisdom Healing Qigong Master? Give us some insight into your story.
First of all, I appreciate the brief time with you your own powerful story. It allows you to make a new discovery when that’s affecting your life. To clarify, I have not created Qigong. Qigong is very ancient wisdom from the Chinese tradition that can go back to 5,000 years. It’s nearly accumulative wisdom continuously unfolding especially in these modern times. I learned from my teacher, Dr. Pang who happens to be a physician in both Western medicines as well as traditional Chinese medicine. He discovered the limitation of what is conventional medicine even integrative medicine. He started to use Qigong to help his patients and then come to students.
He’s creating a large medicine Qigong Hospital in China and helped millions of peoples over the years. For me, I was not born knowing Qigong when I was in China. I came to the US when I was twenty-some years old to study mathematics then I discover fine arts as my passion. When I was in graduate school in a high state, I discovered Qigong. A friend was born here. She was not Chinese but she was interested in this art from Asia. She was teaching tai-chi in the form of Qigong. We had a strong connection.
If you don't feel the power inside of you, you cannot truly open your heart in a deeper way. Click To TweetThrough her, I discovered this form of Qigong called Wisdom Healing Qigong. I went back to China to study more seriously with my teacher, the founder of the system called Wisdom Healing Qigong in the Medicine and Qigong Hospital in China. I quickly engaged very deeply. I’m dedicated and disciplined. Even at a time, I had a lot of health issues including asthma conditions and scoliosis. They’re diagnosed as incurable chronic. Since childhood, I had this disease and I learned to adopt knowing there’s no solution to it without hope to recover from this condition.
Even I was studying Qigong seriously, it was more for a spiritual reason. I want to discover myself and what is possible because one of the main reasoning at that time, from my whole childhood until I came to the US studying mathematics and fine arts professionally was relatively successful, but there’s a void in my heart and my life to feel not happy and empty. We all do in life. We’re looking for happiness and try so many different ways. When I discovered Qigong, I’m realizing, “I’ve been looking for happiness in the wrong place and ways in all this adventure, life, especially as artists and so on.”

Wisdom Healing Qigong: There’s infinite energy in the universe. Not only is that energy animating all life and creation, but that’s the same energy existing inside of your body.
I was still not totally happy. Qigong taught me happiness is within me. It was in my heart. You cannot truly discover true happiness in someone else or something else. The concept I knew before I discovered Qigong but I didn’t know how to go about it. I didn’t know the meaning. What do you mean happiness is within you? Until I discover the body of Qigong, it allowed me to come back to this body as home and realizing the deeper dimension is energy. In the Chinese concept, we call it Chi which means energy. It’s not only the energy is in your physical body but also the energy is around the physical body.
The energy is in all existence of life, not only in the food, material world of the environment, nature but also in the space. The invisible energy is existing in the whole universe. We know from quantum physics, the new science is validating this ancient wisdom and the same truth. There’s infinite energy in the universe because not only that energy animating all life and creation but that’s the same energy is existing inside of your body. In the beginning, I was conceptually excited about that. I want to discover what that means. Understanding is one thing but experiencing that is exciting. The secret is in the body. In order to experience that energy, you have to get into your body. That’s is the connection I had and everybody has. We’re so much into mental story and concept even in these exciting knowledge like, “I know so much.”
Come into the real problem of life, we don’t know how to solve them, make a difference and transform all life including our health. We continue to depend on someone else to solve the problem or something else to bring more happiness and more health including medication. This has been a journey for me to discover, everything is inside of me already but I have to discover, connect and cultivate. That’s an important aspect. It is to discover what is possible, what is the greater potential inside of you? You have to cultivate this energy. It’s not like, “The energy is there, so what?”
Taking care of your health is one of the most direct ways you can learn. Click To TweetLet’s talk about how we do that. Since COVID-19 has happened, there’s been a lot of distractions. There’s been a lot going on in the US. It’s an election year. There’s been social unrest. Many people like me at beginning of 2020, it’s like, “My year is 2020. I have all these things.” Things were moving in that direction for the first quarter of the year. This was the best first quarter I’ve had in this business doing what I’m doing. It was great. It looked like 2020 was going to be a stellar game and then COVID happened.
It caused me to take a step back. At the same time, I wanted to remain focused because I was focused on what I wanted to accomplish at the end of the fourth quarter of 2020. What I created for myself and I had already known this but I brought it to light even more was to live from in here and not live from out here. That became my mantra. It became my focus every single day was to live from here because out there were a lot of distractions and could dictate how I move into decisions that I make and everything that I do on a daily basis. I had to stay focused and ensure that I’m living from here. What’s in my heart and body?
What are my own goals and objectives that I want to maintain despite everything that’s happening and what it looked like? It’s going to change as it relates to my business. It required me to get very present with myself, my goals, objectives and maintain that presence consistently on a daily basis. That’s what you’re talking about here. You’re talking about getting into the body. I feel that there’s a level of presence that you’re talking about. Not everyone knows how to do that. When you say to get out of your head and into your body, could you explain to us what are you saying? What do you mean talking about into the body?

Wisdom Healing Qigong: The mind is running from one problem to another problem, but the body is carrying whatever stress is associated with the problem you identify in your life.
Many of us may have heard of this concept. The direct experience is so simple. First of all, I want to take energy in a way going to this process to say we’re in this together with the pandemic. Some of us have been prepared for that even without expecting such great challenges in life. It’s beyond anyone’s expectations. Some of us had not been prepared for this. They’re totally shocked and don’t know what to do. We all go to the stage of extreme stress, get lost, confused and don’t know what to do not just in the big picture but in the small picture of everyday life, job, your vision and so on. That is very normal.
While we’re experiencing all these levels of stress, not identifying all these problems we’re experiencing like a health crisis, economic, social, even coast crisis as well and environmental crisis is happening everywhere. We know we’re stressed out, but the problem is the mind still in this mental space continuing entangled stressed with all the bad news and stories. All that thinking trying to putting life together again when everything is falling apart. It is very stressful but the worst problem is not only we don’t know what to do with all these problems mentally, we feel lost and even depressed. The worst problem is you’re not aware that your body is carrying the stress.
The mind is running from one problem to another problem, but the body is carrying whatever stress associated with the problem you identify in your life. Not only now in the presence of life, we’re stress but in collective life, we’re stressed. It’s contracted energy. Tangibly, you’re experiencing the contraction in your brain neurons. It’s a contraction in your shoulders and arms contracting in your heart but deeply every part of your body is contracting. That’s the stress. It doesn’t matter mentally what you are thinking. The body carries that stress.
This contraction is happening not only when you’re watching the bad news but it’s happening continuously over time. It’s accumulating. Now is getting worse than yesterday. Accumulative stress and contraction. It’s energy into your body. When you’re not aware that, the mind is running from one thing to another thing then the body carries all this accumulative energy and those stress. What happens? Eventually, the body gives up and then you are diagnosed with all the problems, whatever the problem might be. Different diagnoses like heart, brain, and immune system issues, emotional anxiety, depression and so on. We’re shocked thinking, “What happened to me?” As if something happened overnight. I can tell you the truth, nothing happens overnight.
What you’re experiencing right now is the result of your history. It the result of the accumulative experience of life, particularly accumulative stress. Stress is not the number one problem. It’s being unaware of the body carrying the stress is the number one problem. You cannot avoid stressful things in life as we talked about in the beginning. Challenge is part of life. The degree of challenge life is amplified ten times more than let’s say several months ago. Several months ago, you had your stress.
Deep healing is simple but it's not easy. Click To TweetYears ago, you continue the stress from life. This stressful problem has been there for a long time but you’re not aware of it. Your body is carrying this accumulative stress from your childhood continuing into this moment. This disconnection over your mind and body causes that you’re not aware of the stress in the body. The body continues functioning based on this old accumulative pattern of stress and the most important contracted pattern of energy in your body is the fearful pattern. It’s fight or flight. In the Qigong way, we understand that the energy contracted pattern your kidney system, associating with your reproductive system, including your sexual energy. When that energy contracts, then you are experiencing more fight or flight, the fearful pattern and you’re responding to life.
What happens in your life with fight or flight? That is the most destructive pattern. We all know that. We cannot think clearly and be creative. We don’t feel empowered. You’re barely surviving and reacting to life. You’re barely holding on to something trying to survive the day. You become a vicious cycle. You internally responding from this fight or flight and at the same time, the extraordinary stress happening in life is true. It’s causing more fear inside of you then you cannot get out of it. You cannot think out of the issue, no matter how much you think. The fear is there. The energy pattern is there. You can say, “Try not to worry about it. Try to be less fearful.” The fear is in your body. It’s programmed from the ancient time. It’s activated by the circumstance now.

Wisdom Healing Qigong: If you can take care of yourself effectively, wisely, and lovingly, there is no question about it, you will know more about how to take care of your family and others.
The important thing we’re doing Qigong is you’re connecting with your body. You’re getting deeper into your body, feeling the contract pattern inside of your body including your organs. You’re awakening and opening energy. You’re shifting energy from contraction to openness to flow again. That same energy changes the pattern itself. It changes its function including your experience of emotion. You’re shifting from fear to more empowerment and resilience inside of you. That’s is one example. To come back to the simple question you have is how can you go into your body more effectively? You first are starting to embrace all the sensation and feeling inside of you, both comfortable and uncomfortable
Certain posture or movement allows you to be more aware of the problematic energy structure or difficult, uncomfortable sensation feeling in your body. If the contraction is inside of you, if you lay there watching the TV and your mind is seeing the TV, you don’t feel your body. You don’t feel the pain or discomfort. You feel more comfortable but that doesn’t mean that issue is not there anymore. Suddenly, you do a certain movement or you’re connecting with your body. You feel the stress and tension. In the beginning, you’re still thinking, “All this moment is creating the pain and discomfort.” The problem is there, to begin with. You’re not connected and feeling it. It doesn’t mean it’s not there.
There are two things. One is you’re turning your awareness from externally lost. Engaged or dependent to internally connect with your body. The awareness allows you to notice the sensation feeling including the uncomfortable sensation for you. Secondly is this particular practice, a certain posture and movement allow you to feel your body more tangibly because our awareness, in the beginning, is still very superficial. When you’re feeling discomfort, you run away to a story, your concept, something external and the busyness of your life.

Wisdom Healing Qigong: Qigong is about the training for you to access the real power of your mind and creative energy beyond medication and different techniques that you learned over time.
It’s a combination of awareness and movement that allows you to go deeper. The next step even further, you identify not only the discomfort in your shoulder area that often carry stress. Your spine, hip area, and muscle tissue carry stress, but you go deeper into your five organ systems. You go to the heart, kidney system, digestive system, immune system including your liver and your lung, the respiratory system. You’re not mentally going there but you’re using other techniques such as sound and vibration. It allows you to access the deeper energy of the five organ systems including the emotional energy system. That becomes possible.
Not just a concept of going through your body, feeling your body, and making the change. You have to be tangible going to the organ system. You discover a deeper dimension beyond the physical. The physical sensation but then the subtle sensation of energy than the deeper mental, spiritual dimension of your five organ system. In this case, for example, the sound for the kidney system and that’s one of the most problematic energy pattern waves being seen personally, collectively, and also not only in circumstances of a pandemic but it’s historical. It’s an accumulative energy pattern of fear.
The most powerful medicine in the whole universe is through your mind and consciousness. Click To TweetWhen we do practice, usually we close our eyes then you connect with your lower back. You’re feeling the top of your body when you’re making these very simple but powerful sound. What are you doing is you are awakening the power in this kidney system including the power beneath the fear? The fear is contracting power. It’s freezing the power. When you’re awakening, the power through this sound and what you experience is the feeling of warmness. Feeling warm like a burning sensation. You’re feeling awakening. The power will come back. It’s freeze by the fearful pattern programming your system then you continue for example, to the next sound that is gentle but very deep.
The feeling is you’re allowing this subtle and invisible energy including the power active from the first sound to flow to the entire body. It’s like water floating to the entire body. The first sound is like you’re unfreezing the ice. The ice is the fearful energy, you unfreeze them. You’re not judging it. You’re not trying to get rid of the ice. Often, we say, “Get rid of your fear.” It doesn’t work. If you truly get rid of your fear, you have to get rid of your life force inside of you. It’s closing but the energy is still in your life force.

Wisdom Healing Qigong:
When you say get rid of your fear, you get rid of your life forces. What are you doing if you’re changing the structure from contraction to openness? The contraction, the frozenness as we experience as fight or flight patterns inside of you. The first sound is unfreezing this energy. The second sound is to allow this powerful energy to flow, to nourish life again like water nourishing life. The third sound is when you practice long enough, you’re not only activating energy in the base of the spine. In the yoga tradition, it’s called Kundalini energy.
In the Chinese tradition, we call it Chi energy. It’s the same energy and then the energy is frozen by the fear. You’re not only awakening and circulating but you allow the power to come up from the base of the spine. When it comes up to the chest level, that energy is empowering your heart to open. If you don’t feel the power inside of you, you cannot truly open your heart in a deeper way. When the energy is moving up to the brain, awakening the brain capacity. When the energy is moving up to the crown chakra, merging to pure consciousness and awareness.
I’m sharing that example of sound healing. It tangibly allows you not only to connect with the deeper dimension of your body but in this case, an awakening that particular energy of a kidney system, transforming the emotion pattern as well as awakening the spiritual dimension inside of you. At the same time, directly nourishing the physical function of your body and increasing your health naturally deeply. That’s the best example illustrating how Qigong works. It’s not about doing this movement. It’s not about whatever power or martial arts you see. It’s internal transformation, awakening and nourishment healing. It’s inseparable.
We’re here with Master Mingtong Gu who’s giving us some examples of the sound of healing utilizing Qigong. This has been so eye-opening for me. I want to sign up for something so I can learn how to practice these exercises and unlock the stress. We hear about unlocking stress through exercise, making sure you get enough sleep and eating right. This sounds like a dedicated practice to removing the stress and opening up the flow of energy inside your body.
Once you’re opening the flow of energy, all the physical function of your body, emotional functioning of your heart by the organ system also meant to function of your mind is you turned into an optimum function. Every day, when you practice, you feel the improvement and the change. Every time you practice, the common experience is people naturally feel better. You don’t have to prove to anyone. You’re feeling it inside of you. You don’t need to depend on anyone else to tell you how you’re feeling when you pay attention. You start feeling your heart more open. You start to feel more alive and connected in life. It’s a direct personal experience. We shared an example in the last session. It’s very accessible.
For example, in sound healing, you don’t have to be a professional musician. You don’t have to have a good voice. You don’t have to use any instrument. This is internal sound healing. It’s different than using the crystal ball, drum and other instruments. You’re using your own body as the instrument. That means it’s available for you and everyone. It’s accessible for everyone to do it. I don’t know how to sing or play an instrument, but I can make this voice. In the beginning, honestly, this voice was not natural.
It was easy for me to do. Even to recognize these words written in Chinese. I know how to pronounce them but making the sound is different. If you look at the pronunciation. It’s just like A. It’s no big deal. It doesn’t have that result. The best thing is you’re making the best effort whatever voice you have. All the time, you feel more powerful with your voice. More importantly, the energy is awakening inside of your organ. Your voice becomes the expression of that energy. Instead of trying to use a perfect voice to accomplishing whatever the sound, it’s the opposite. You do what you can.
The energy improves when you’re doing it with your best effort. Your voice is getting better including if you do the movement, your movement is getting better. The principle is applying to everything you do. You do what you can with your own best effort in movement, sound and meditation. It does not require perfection and competition. It’s not a comparison with anyone else. It’s about you improving yourself continuously. Your direct experience is giving you feedback, “I can do better than yesterday. I’m feeling stronger and better than yesterday.” That’s a very important game of life. Whatever game you’re playing. In Qigong, in this case, that’s the game with yourself. It’s the internal game.
You talk about a game. I plan the game and being in the game when you’re stressed out and you contracted. You can’t perform at your best. You can’t run your outs the way you need to. You can’t reach and stretch the way you need to. You’re not in optimal health so you can’t be at optimal performance. If we’re going to play this game, this is a practice. I think about high-class athletes, they go through a lot of processes to ensure that they can perform at the highest level possible on the field. These are things that are necessary or too time-consuming even corny at times.
Since they do these things over and over, it allows them to be the athletes that they are. If we’re going to play this game of life, you want to make sure that we are practicing tools, techniques and processes that would allow us to perform at our best in the game of life which is a more important game than a sports game like football and basketball. You get to play another game in sports but in the game of life, once the fourth quarter is over, no one has ever come back and told us what it’s going to be like. As far as we know right now, this is it. This is the most important game that we have to play. Another thing I want to highlight is when opposition happens, we’re quick to look for answers on the outside.
We go reaching for the newspaper or what the neighbor thinks. We go out seemingly looking for solutions but a lot of times, the feedback that we’re getting is stressful. It’s understanding how it’s affecting the world and you. What are the possibilities of even more destructive or lasting longer than we want? That causes more stress. Since you’re getting more stress and not practicing. You’re not in a place where you can come up with solutions on your own. You’re not connected with your body and source. When I talked about living from in here and not out there, the answers out there may not be for you, especially when you have a definite purpose that you know you have been given from source, God, or whatever you want to call it, your connection with the infinite.

Wisdom Healing Qigong
You can only rely on the information that’s coming from here because the information out there may not be aligned with where your mission or destination is. Things out there may be affecting you but that’s the thing. Going back to those athletes, they may not be performing well on the field. They may have to go up against a seemingly unbeatable defense. What they do is they go do things that will allow them to get a competitive advantage or peak performance during their game. They discipline and put themselves through processes that will ensure they’re at the optimal level. I’ve found that many of them will remove certain things from their life that when they’re going through that process, that could be distracting, that isn’t aligned with where they want to go, or what they’re trying to accomplish. I feel at times, we have to do that as individual players of the game here. We have to follow the same concept.
The main difference I may say in this case, it’s the extension or even the most important game is the internal game. You’re playing this internal game, get to know yourself, your weakness and your strengths but at the same time, the past allows you to discover what is the deeper, hidden power, wisdom and potential of living life more fully. Whatever you want to accomplish externally might be important but you can directly experience internally what do you truly want to accomplish with your heart, entire body, spirit and energy system. This time, when we go inwardly, one of the important questions we can ask is, what is the most important thing in your life?
Why everything else is falling apart? You might have a new insight or discovery. Whatever goal originally has great meaning and importance. Now, you’ve come back to that deeper question. You may discover a new relationship with that goal or purpose. You may discover a deeper purpose, the meaning of life, or the meaning of existence. You may have to come back to your blank piece of paper and starting from scratch again. Many of us, one way or another are forced to go through this process. It’s almost like rebooting your system, the old way of doing things. One thing we have to learn is in this pandemic, everything is happening, not just the virus. Personal, collective, economical, health, social or environmental, all those problems are indicating that the way we are living life is not working. It’s fucked up. It’s not sustainable. It’s not truly fulfilling the purpose of life anymore.
We still have to eat, do what you can, maintain our life and status quo but the deeper question is we have to change the way of life. It’s so clear. If we don’t wake up to that clear insight and message, we can continue suffering. We’re going to continue the long game and even dragging yourself by whatever game you want to play. One simple question I want to ask people is, what is most nourishing for you? How can you take care of yourself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually? If you can take care of yourself effectively, wisely and lovingly, there is no question about it. You will know more about how to take care of your family and take care of other things which can be important. If we can do that collectively, there’s no question. Society can take care of itself. Earth can take care of itself with all our alignment knowing how we can take care of ourselves.
If we don’t know how to do that, the results are not going to be promising. No matter what is the goal, high vision, or accomplishment including with sophisticated science and technology, the result will be more destruction than nourishment. We are at this crossroad in humanity. We’re not asking the question, “What are we going to create for our next generation?” It’s too late when you ask that. What are you going to create this moment for you? How do you know what is important in your life?
Taking care of your health is one of the most direct ways you can learn. You realize and discover not only what is important, what is nourishing or fulfilling. One thing that people come to me and say, “Can Qigong help me with my problems, this particularly diagnosed and all of these problems?” I say, “Yes but that’s the wrong question. The real question is, do you want to heal?” If the answer is yes, then that can teach you. It’s simple but it’s not easy. The question is, do you want to do it? It’s a good thing to do but do you want to do it?
The simple question beyond is, do you want to do get well or not is this is your body. It’s not someone else’s body. Do you want to take care of your body? Do you want to be responsible for your body? This is your own energy body. You have access to your own energy body than anyone else in the whole universe, then your doctors, therapist, parents and spouse. The question is, do you want to access it? Even in a car, if you look at the top of the games, do you want to master your energy body? If you don’t want to master your own energy body, who else can master that?
You’re born with this burst of light. You have a whole lifetime to do that. This awareness, these challenges, not life lessons but it’s an opportunity. In some way, we’re forced to do this. Now, I’ll have the incentives to do this. In a pandemic, we have more time to do this but the questions will come to you. You can answer that question, “Do you want to do that? Do you want to be self-responsible? Do you want to be self-loving? Do you want to self-care yourself?” Instead of waiting for another medical cure, waiting for another thing to feel temporarily satisfied so you can avoid the real issue. The last thing we do is to get so busy and occupied so that we can avoid the true issue inside us.
The more energy flowing, the more health, the greater joy and happiness, and the greater performance in your life. Click To TweetDeep healing is simple but it’s not easy. You have to make a decision and willing to go to these places. The major difference between conventional medicine and Qigong Healing is always you do something external or depend on someone to take care of your body and issue. In Qigong, you’re the one doing it for yourself completely. You may follow the guidance, a teacher, experience, people and expert can help you guide you through this process but you’re the one doing it and that’s so important. The second defense, in this case, in most times, especially for a chronic condition. What is chronic? That means it cannot be cured by conventional medicine.
That doesn’t mean that the issue itself cannot be cured. It cannot be cured by the conventional approach. That’s not what the doctor tells you. They’ll say, “This condition is incurable.” That’s not true. The accurate statement is this condition is incurable by the way I know. There are other ways but the doctor didn’t tell you that. Other ways that are much bigger. The most powerful medicine in the whole universe is through your mind and consciousness. The second is the creative energy of the universe. That’s the most powerful thing in the whole universe.
Qigong is about the training for you to access the real power of your mind and creative energy beyond medication and different techniques that you learned over time. The approach is very different in this case. You think of everything your body is expressing energy. When you’re experiencing disease malfunction, physical, emotional, even mental is expressing of contractive energy. When we diagnose something as a disease like heart disease, it means the energy of your heart is not functioning and serving the wholeness of the body.

Wisdom Healing Qigong:
The energy is contracted, separate and not communicating well with the rest of your body. It’s not aligning with the rest of the body function. That’s what that means. The conventional approach towards chronic conditions, in their mind, they’re assuming it’s incurable. What that means is you use a medication whatever therapy to control the symptom and that disease energy. To numb that energy so you feel less impact of that energy.
There’s some benefit in that. It’s a temporary benefit. You can feel more functional and fewer symptoms but you’re not curing the condition. You want to cure this energy. In Qigong way, what will happen? It’s masking and controlling that energy. In severe medication, what happens is you’re putting that disease energy in the bottle, isolate the energy from the rest of the body energy. You’re suppressing it. In the beginning, you’re masking it. All the time, you’re suppressing it and you’re putting that energy in your basement. You don’t want to deal with it anymore.
What happened in Qigong is a completely different approach. We recognize anything as energy. Functionally, there are two patterns. One is opening, flowing and harness. You’re experiencing optimum health and performance. That’s contracted, separate, numb, fragmented, continuously compromising your health and whatever level of your performance in your life in general. You have to heal that pattern. You have to go to that energy, open that energy instead of continuing to keep it in the basement or in the cup. You open it. You are breaking the boxes. In the beginning, you feel bad. That energy doesn’t smell good, doesn’t taste good, and doesn’t feel good. Even your symptom is getting worse.
You keep on opening. You keep on sending a new message to this energy, a message of love, acceptance, compassion, the joy of life and new wisdom of wholeness. You’re moving this energy. You’re vibrating this energy with a slow sound. You mentally connecting energy, slow intention, slow your awareness. You continue coming back to the wholeness of the energy body no matter what’s happening in that heart, for example. You keep opening the heart energy. At the same time, you’re connecting that energy with the rest of your body. You’re connecting with the subtle energy of the universe. You keep on coming back to the wholeness again.
Over time, that energy is reprogrammed into a new pattern of wholeness and a new level of functionality. You are upgrading your energy operating system which is the foundation for your health and life. Deeply, the simplicity of Qigong allows you to address any issues and directly you go to the simplicity of energy. It’s either contracted or open. Without analyzing or thinking, “What’s wrong with me in the past? How complex our story and history is? How little I can do now?” You can do something to open that energy. If you cannot move a certain part of the body, you move the rest of the body.
If you cannot move the arm, you move your fingers. If you cannot move the whole spine, moving that part, it can move. If you cannot physically move at all, you are paralyzed, you’re imagining and visualizing the movement. Even watching someone else moving, you feel better because your body has that desire to move. Your committed neuron is receiving a new signal and possibility. When you’re watching someone else moving, the brain starts to reprogram your body. That’s one example of a new discovery of neuroplasticity.

About Master Mington Gu
Named Qigong Master of the Year by the 13th World Congress on Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mingtong Gu possesses a profound ability to harness energy in order to accelerate personal and global healing, making him a sought-after healer, practitioner, and teacher.
As a child growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution, Master Gu endured hunger, poverty, and a long separation from his birth family. Despite these incredible hardships, he became the first from his village to attend college, earning a bachelor’s degree in mathematics followed by two master’s degrees, including an MFA from Ohio State University. As a graduate student in art, Master Gu discovered the treasures of his own culture through the spiritual iconography of Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Western mystic traditions while practicing yoga, Tantric Buddhism, and qigong.
In 1997, Master Gu returned to China for qigong training under Dr. Pang Ming, a qigong grandmaster trained in Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, and the founder of the world’s largest Qigong hospital. During his training, Master Gu observed thousands of cases of chronic and “incurable” diseases being healed at this “medicine-less” hospital, which has now treated over 200,000 patients with over 185 different illnesses, with a 95 percent effective improvement rate.
Witnessing these profound healing experiences inspired Master Gu’s dedication to the teaching and practice of qigong healing, which he now teaches to thousands of people in the United States, China, and Europe through his workshops, books, and education programs. He created the Pure Qi Online series—a collection of courses that translate the ancient teachings of Wisdom Healing Qigong™ for contemporary times—and is the founder of the Chi Center and the Center for Wisdom Healing Qigong, a beautiful 79-acre resort located 20 minutes south of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Through practice, Master Gu has recovered from his own chronic conditions of asthma, scoliosis, back pain, and kidney weakness. His teaching emphasizes activating the power of inner self-healing, facilitating the release of chronic illness while improving health and well-being. Master Gu lives and teaches with his wife Linling, also a gifted healer, and their two children.
